Bracero thrills hometown fans, scores second straight knockout win in Broadway Boxing main event

BROOKLYN, NY (July 30, 2011) – It wasn’t until junior welterweight Gabriel “Tito” Bracero’s eleventh pro fight that he finally stopped an opponent inside the distance. Now, he looks like he’s making up for lost time. Bracero (17-0, 3 KOs) assaulted Floridian Danie van Staden (8-7, 4 KOs) for much of three rounds until a vicious right cross finished the night for good at 1:08 of round three in front of Bracero’s hometown fans at the Aviator Sports & Events Complex in Brooklyn, New York.

COY EVANS IN MAIN EVENT TONIGHT

www.Phillyboxinghistory.com

Rodriguez And Hackett Look to Steal Show

Pro boxing returns to the City of Philadelphia for just the fifth time in 2011 on Friday night when KEA Boxing stages it's second Philly show of the year. The oft-renamed Asylum Arena (aka the South Philly Arena, the New Alhambra, etc. etc.) will be the venue.

Topping the card is undefeated featherweight Coy Evans, who steps onto center stage after stable mate Derek Ennis, the original headliner, injured his shoulder this week and was forced to pull out of his scheduled match. Evans will box a rematch with Jason Rorie, who placed the only blemish on Coy's 10-0-1 record. The pair clashed back in 2008 and fought to a four-round draw in Evans' third pro bout. Rorie, North Carolina, was 1-0 at the time, but has fought twice as much as Evans since that date, compiling a lumpy 6-12-2 (3 KO) record against many good young lions.

Strange Ending to Fight as Amir Khan KOs Zab Judah

By Les Dowiger

On Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, IBF light welterweight champion, Amir “King” Khan, 26-1 (18 KOs), took another step towards superstardom with a 5th round knockout of Zab “Super” Judah, 41-7 (28 KOs).

Some felt that this fight would be a stiff test for the young Briton, as Judah, though past his prime and having won only one significant fight in the last 6 years (his decision win over Lucas Matthysse), is a very experienced, quick handed southpaw, with good power. However, any illusions that this would be a close and competitive fight disappeared in first few rounds as Judah was outgunned from the opening bell.

RIP Arturo "Thunder" Gatti

RIP....4-15-1972 - July 11-2009

By: Danny Serratelli

Two years ago today everyone received very sad news. I remember, it was a very hot summer day, much like today and I received a text asking if I heard about Arturo....honestly, I didn't think anything of the text. I figured it was just referring to some crazy fun and maybe some minor trouble. Arturo was always one of the boys and always had great stories. However, this time would be different. Soon after, I heard the news and it hit harder than I could imagine.

Williams Does Enough to Get the Victory in AC

By: Danny Serratelli

Junior-middleweight Paul Williams squeaked out a 12-round majority decision over Erislandy Lara at Boardwalk Hall's Adrian Phillips Ballroom Saturday night.

Despite the fact that Lara was the slicker boxer and the sharper puncher, it was Williams who was the constant aggressor and the busier fighter. Lara followed the Sergio Martinez game plan and landed big lefts throughout the fight. However, despite a lot of clean power punches landed, Lara was unable to really hurt the determined Williams.
