Adamek’s Roadmap: Estrada, Arreola...Wladimir Klitschko?
By Les Dowgier
Former cruiserweight kingpin Tomasz “Goral” Adamek, 39-1 (27 KOs), is continuing his march through the heavyweight division and appears to have a general plan of assault mapped out. On February 2, 2010 the hardman from Zywiec, Poland (now making his home in Jersey City, NJ) will square off against former US Olympian Jason “Big Six” Estrada, 16-2 (4 KOs), at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. Next, in a fight which has yet to be arranged, Adamek may be taking on the rugged and hard-hitting Chris “The Nightmare” Arreola, 28-1 (25 KOs) in Arreola’s home town of Riverside, CA. And, according to long-time Adamek manager Ziggy Rozalski, should Adamek be victorious against the tough Mexican-American, he will have a great chance to meet the winner of the March 30th showdown between “Fast” Eddie Chambers, 35-1 (18 KOs) and IBF and WBO heavyweight champion “Dr. Steelhammer” Wladimir Klitschko 53-3 (47 KOs).

MAYWEATHER PROMOTIONS AND GOLDEN BOY PROMOTIONS SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT
(December 28, 2009) . . . After a Christmas weekend filled with comments and reports related to the potential mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, Mayweather Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions are issuing the following statement in order to set the record straight.
Let the record be clear: Manny Pacquiao and his promoter Bob Arum are threatening to walk away from the largest fight in history.
The fact is that random blood and urine testing was one of the many deal points and was listed along with the others, such as the financial split, the weight, financial penalty for being overweight, the appointment of the foreign sales agent, the production of the marketing assets, the gloves and many more. Team Mayweather made major concessions in many of these areas and we were optimistic that Team Pacquiao would do the same as it related to the request for random blood and urine testing, which Floyd Mayweather agreed to immediately.
DeMarco Next Victim for Valero
By: Ted Sares:
“El Inca” is an equal opportunity destroyer having dispatched Colombians, Americans, Panamanians, Argentineans, Mexicans, Armenians, Japanese, and even Venezuelans. And whether he fights in his adopted base of Japan or his native Venezuela (or somewhere in between), he brings incredible excitement into the ring, and it’s as much about his vulnerabilities as it is his skills. The way he used to come in throwing wide and looping punches from different angles just begged for a fast and straight puncher to take him out and most aficionados knew it. Indeed, he closely resembled his friend Daniel Ponce de Leon who threw wide (and wild), albeit powerful, punches. However, Daniel’s style was finally solved by Juan Manuel Lopez who moved straight in between the Mexican’s wild punches and waxed him in the first round.
Ted Sares’s Top Boxing Awards for 2009: Pacquiao, Mosley, Roach, More!
By Ted Sares:
1. Fighter of the Year: Manny Pacquiao
An easy choice this year. After retiring Oscar De La Hoya late in 2008, he rendered unconscious Ricky Hatton in two and then stopped Miguel Cotto after he finally chased him down in the 12th round. Manny is THE event fighter in boxing going into 2010.
2. Fight of the Year: Bernard Dunne vs. Ricardo “Maestrito” Cordoba
Dunne was dropped and hurt badly twice in the fifth round while his Panamanian opponent was decked in the third and then three times more in the eleventh round after which the fight was finally stopped in front of a roaring crowd in Dublin.

On January 22nd, 2007, 4-year-old Cristian was diagnosed with Pontine Glioma, which is an inoperable brain tumor located in the stem of the brain.
After the doctors examined Cristian and reviewed his MRI, we received the worst news of our lives. The tumor was inoperable and the average lifespan for a child with Pontine Glioma after diagnosis is 9 to 18 months.
Cristian fought his battle with Pontine Glioma for 2 years and a few days. Cristian’s mother and father never gave up hope. They prayed that God would heal their beloved child. Cristian kept fighting against this form of cancer. He passed away on January 25, 2009, in the loving arms of his mother and father.
Cristian’s story magnifies just how important the work of the Cristian Rivera Foundation truly is. That work is to find a cure for the inoperable Pontine Glioma brain stem tumor that ultimately claimed the life of Cristian Rivera. Your tax-deductible donation to the Cristian Rivera Foundation will one day find a cure for Pontine Glioma so no other family will have to suffer the grief that Cristian Rivera’s family has endured.
JOIN OUR CAUSE AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Please click on the “Donation” tab on the “Home Page” to make a tax-deductible donation to the Cristian Rivera Foundation. All of your donations will go directly to finding a cure for Pontine Glioma. All monies donated will be given to those medical facilities and scientific trials specifically researching cures for Pontine Glioma inoperable brain stem tumors.
Chip Mitchell’s Interview with Floyd Mayweather, Sr.
PART I
Freddie Roach and Floyd Mayweather Sr. I recently had the opportunity to interview one of the best trainers in boxing, Mr. Floyd Joy Mayweather, Sr. Here is PART I of the interview….
Chip Mitchell: Mr. Mayweather, let’s jump right into it. One of the sanctioning bodies may soon introduce a rule to banish fathers from working their son’s corners in boxing. Let’s hypothesize that your brother Roger has to do prison time. This rule could prevent you from training or co-training your own son in the biggest fights of his career. Do you think some shenanigans are going down to freeze you out? If so, should we refer to this as the Mayweather, Sr. rule?
Floyd Mayweather: That’s probably what it is, you know, because anything that Floyd learned he learned from me anyway. I fought like that, Roger didn’t fight like that. I’m the only one that fought and blocked shots with my shoulder and countered back. Roger never fought that way. Maybe that’s what they are trying to do. If they do I think it’s a bad thing. But everything happens for a reason. Me and my son broke up for a reason. It’s a lot of things you don’t see. That’s when the problems come in. When you hear people say his dad didn’t train him or didn’t do this or his dad didn’t do that…. All lies! Total lies! My son could fight when he got here. Things happen and things come between you. I didn’t treat him that way. Ain’t no way in the world he could beat those kinds of fighters that he is now if his daddy had not been there to show him the ropes. No way!

RODRIGO VALDEZ ; He Was Badder Then "Bennie"
By: Jim Amato
With all the recent hoopla for the respected Bernard Hopkins and his adding to the legacy of great Philly fighters...
Well here goes... The great city of Philadelphia has produced an array of world class middleweights over the years. Hopkins has brought great pride to the long line of Philly middlewights who came before him. Tough guys like Stanley " Kitten " Hayward, Eugene "Cyclone" Hart, Bobby " Boogaloo" Watts, Willie "The Worm" Monroe and possibly he toughest of them all, "Bad" Bennie Briscoe.
When people talk of Hopkins now they compare him to Stanley Ketchel, Harry Greb, Sugar Ray Robinson and his more recent contemporaries, Carlos Monzon and Marvin Hagler. Did someone forget a classy and fine middleweight named Rodrigo Valdez?
MADDALONE TURNS IN ANOTHER WARRIOR LIKE EFFORT

Maddalone took the fight straight to the former two-time cruiserweight champion. The fight, which took place at the Halle Carpentier in Mormeck's native Paris, France, had the packed house in attendance on the edge of their seats for the majority of the contest.

Sweet Vindication for Malignaggi
By Les Dowgier
Approximately four months after losing a controversial decision to Juan "Baby Bull" Diaz in Diaz’s hometown of Houston, Texas, Paulie "Magic Man" Malignaggi got his vindication, out-boxing (and this time officially outpointing) the Baby Bull en route to a unanimous decision and the NABO Light Welterweight Title at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago this past Saturday night.
MADDALONE LOOKS TO BRING EXCITEMENT TO FRANCE
When heavyweight fan favorite Vinny Maddalone (32-5, 23KO) takes on former two-time cruiserweight champion Jean Marc Mormeck (33-4, 22KO) this Thursday, one thing is for sure, the fans in attendance will be treated to one very exciting fight. The bout, scheduled for eight rounds, will take place at the Halle Carpentier Arena in Mormeck's native Paris, France.
VINNY MADDALONE
"I can't wait to get into the ring and go to war with Mormeck," stated Maddalone. "Mormeck comes right at you and likes to bang, which is exactly the type of fight I dream about being in. There isn't going to be any dancing around or pop shotting from the outside, this is going to be one of those old school fashion wars that boxing fans love to see. We are both going to be right in each other's faces from the start of the fight, saying, 'here I am, let me see what you got'. I'm really looking forward to putting on a fun and exciting show for all those in attendance come fight night."
Danny Serratelli and Vinny MaddaloneMaddalone, coming off a 4th round TKO over Benji Baker in his last fight in April, is known for his crowd pleasing style, and punching power. Maddalone is also known throughout the boxing circles as a bleeder, something that Maddalone thrives off of.
"When I see blood, that's when I really start to fight, I guess it gets me going," says Maddalone with a smile.

By: Geoffrey Ciani - Saturday night was the last big night of boxing in 2009. Vitali Klitschko, Timothy Bradley, Vic Darchinyan, and Paulie Malignaggi were all victorious. It was a decent night of boxing overall with an early stoppage, a couple of lopsided decisions, revenge, and a comeback victory for a highly touted prospect.

IN SEARCH OF A FAIR SHAKE
http://www.hbo.com/boxing/
On the heels of a much-maligned decision in the Ali Funeka/Joan Guzman bout, the score-settling December 12 rematch between Juan Diaz and Paulie Malignaggi has placed judging in the center of the ring.
December 7, 2009 - by Dave Larzelere
When Juan Diaz and Paulie Malignaggi square off in their rematch on December 12 at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, the judges at ringside may be under almost as much scrutiny as the fighters themselves. The second half of 2009 has brought with it two of the most controversial decisions in boxing's recent memory—the much disputed unanimous decision for Diaz in the first Diaz/Malignaggi fight in August, and then the universally declaimed majority draw in the Ali Funeka/Joan Guzman debacle on November 28.

Monica Sears: Underappreciated? Maybe. Underrated? Definitely!
By: Chip Mitchell
The next time Golden Boy Promotions has a fight card on television, pay close attention to the people in the squared circle. Sure, you'll see Oscar. You'll also see BHop. You'll even see Shane on a given night. However, if you keep looking I guarantee you'll see someone else. A striking, sharply dressed, vigorous blond woman. A Queen Bee that certainly could be mistaken for a worker bee. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Monica Sears. Jimmy Lennon, Jr. couldn't have put it any better.

Bryan Demolishes Fallen In Newark!
Newark, NJ – Jeremy “Hollywood” Bryan once again displayed why his moniker fits the bill after putting away Darren Fallen inside of two rounds last night in the main event of “The Brawl in Brick City” at Essex County College in Newark, NJ.
Both men took their time in the opening moments of fight, with Bryan patiently throwing jabs while Fallen tried using his reach advantage from the outside. Near the end of the first, Bryan decked Fallen with a short left hook, but the Philadelphian made it back to his feet to finish the round. Bryan picked up where he left off in the second, dropping The 18 fight veteran hard to the canvas with a huge right hand.
The game Fallen arose from the knockdown but was dropped between the ropes shortly thereafter following a strong combination, forcing his corner to throw in the towel at 2:35.

HUSTLER BOXING FIGHT-CARD
Manhattans Grand Ballroom
December 3rd
By:Ricky Ray Taylor
(as originally posted on www.BraggingRightsCorner.com)
-----------------------------------
Thursday nights HUSTLER BOXING Fight-card in Manhattans Grand Ballroom had a few surprises in store for ticket buyers. Scrapping "2" of the 7 scheduled bouts at the last minute was one of them.
Million-Dollar Baby MAUREEN SHEA had been advertised to fight Tampa's JENNA SHIVER. Evidently a cyst was found on Shivers brain a few hours before the fight and she was forced to withdraw from the card. Let's hope she is persuaded to retire.
Fortunately however, there were some fireworks in the 5 bouts that followed:
JAYWON WOODS vs JOSH HARRIS, 6 round Cruiser-weights
Woods came in with a 7-0 record. Harris was 4-3-1. Some may remember Josh Harris from last months YONKERS show where he derailed 10-1 prospect ALEX MEJIAS via a 1st round KO. Well, he did the same thing tonight to WOODS. 1:17 into round 4 of a back and forth fight, Harris replicated his south-paw left-hook on Woods and sent him crashing to his knees. Unfortunately (for Woods) he beat the count. Woods bravely got up and to weather a 10 punch flurry until the ref stopped the fight.
*As Woods' handlers were taking his gloves off, you could hear him pleading
"WHAT HAPPENED?" before he stormed out of the ring to the dressing room.
WINNER HARRIS ~ KO 1:17 rd 4
