Post details: "Cornflake" LaManna

10/10/09

"Cornflake" LaManna

Former Philadelphia Golden Glove Champion Thomas "Cornflake" LaManna will make his professional boxing debut December 05, 2009 at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ, on the HBO televised WBC and WBO World championship title fight between Kelly Pavlik and Paul Williams.

[More:]

At 6'2 140 pounds LaManna captured the Philadelphia Golden Gloves belt with a three round decision in 2007. Now “recharged and focused,” LaManna has one goal in the pro's, and that goal is to become a champion at whatever weight he grows into.

While still a high school student in New Jersey, LaManna is just turning 18 years of age on November 12th. Cornflake as they call him in school has been around pro boxing/boxers (Ray Mercer, Shannon Briggs, Al Cole, Riddick Bowe, Arturo Gatti, Pat Lynch, Lou Duva, Don King etc...) his whole life.

A Riddick Bowe Story,
At just 15 years of age and only weighing 150 pounds soak and wet LaManna got into the ring and did some work with one of the three best heavyweight champions of the 90's, Riddick "Big Daddy" Bowe. While working in the ring Bowe put LaManna down with a hard body shot, LaManna got up and continued the round and one more, three in total. After all the rounds were complete, Bowe told LaManna you got the heart of a Lion and the skill to make it, he then told his father (LaManna) the same.
