FLOYD MAYWEATHER SHOWS SOFTER SIDE BY CARING FOR HOMELESS

Mayweather to Speak with Las Vegas Homeless Youth Tomorrow

Las Vegas, NV (August 13, 2009)...As Floyd Mayweather prepares to face Juan Manuel Marquez on September 19 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas and live on HBO Pay-Per-View®, he continues to give back to the Las Vegas community by donating his time and resources to the homeless. Tomorrow, Friday, August 14, Mayweather will speak at an hour-long life skills class to youth clients at the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth (NPHY) Safe Place Drop-In Center (*please see details below). During the session, he will discuss several "championship" qualities such as the importance of communication, responsibility and self respect.

[More:]

"My desire to win is as strong as my desire to give," Mayweather said. "I know how important it is to help those less fortunate. I hope if I continue to work as hard outside of the ring as I do inside of it, I can inspire others to do the same and help out in their communities as well."

In addition to visiting the Safe Place Drop-In Center, Mayweather and his team frequently prepare hundreds of packed lunches for distribution to homeless people living on the streets and in makeshift tents throughout Central Las Vegas. Due to the overwhelming response from the men, women and children living scattered pockets of tents, Mayweather feels an urgency to give food as often as he can.

"People should not have to live this way," Mayweather said. "We give turkeys away every year during Thanksgiving, but what about the rest of the year? We will continue to hand out food as long as there are people out there that need to eat."

*Mayweather and the NPHY youth clients will be available to speak to media members tomorrow immediately following the conclusion of the life skills class.
