Post details: Super Middleweight Contender Jerson Ravelo is a Free Agent

Super Middleweight Contender Jerson Ravelo is a Free Agent

Super Middleweight contender Jerson Ravelo is a free agent, looking to get back into the mix on top of the super middleweight division. Ravelo is a hungry fighter who has had to overcome great adversity in his career on many occasions. Lesser men would have called it a day, especially after being brought in as an opponent by Goosen Tutor for their top prospect, Olympic Gold Medalist Andre Ward.

Representing yourself in boxing is like going to war unarmed. However, Ravelo was hungry to come back after the Ward fight and show the boxing world he has what it takes to compete with the top super middleweights.

[More:]

Jerson Ravelo met Dafir Smith in his last fight, a fight in which he was tested, but won 7 of 8 rounds against the wily veteran Smith. Smith is a dangerous opponent when given time to prepare for a fight. He had the time for the fight with Ravelo as there first fight was postponed a month from the original date. Ravelo has had several lingering problems that have seemed to bear their heads on the big nights in the big fights against Ward and another big fight against Allan Green.

Ravelo has been self-managed for the last 6 years of his career. This might explain why some of the guys competing against may have had many advantages and opportunites that he hasn't received. Ravelo has never had a conditioning coach , but he does now for the first time in his career. He also has never had a nutritionist to help him shed off weight, but he has never been able to afford many luxuries. He has had it rough and has had to work here and there to make ends meet for him and his son Jerson Jr.

Ravelo has worked on tweaking his style, but maintains the passion, desire and skill level to compete with the best in the division. He can use one thing he never had since early in his career…someone who watches out for him, and brings him back along and back to title contention.

"I feel that my career has finally come together at this time, it might sound a little crazy but everyone has their time to shine. I started polishing my skills coming out of the 2000 olympics, then the injuries started creeping on me, then my confidence got shot down, now I know who the people are who care about me and I have been around long enough to see exactly what it takes to become world champion, and I know I still have what it takes."
