“THE GHOST” LOOKS TO ADD LITZAU TO STRING OF KNOCKOUT VICTIMS IN FEB. 29 TITLE DEFENSE

“SHOBOX” TELECAST TO INCLUDE
WILSON-WALKER HEAVYWEIGHT REMATCH

Los Angeles, CA (February 25, 2008) – In the final scene of the acclaimed 1942 boxing movie “Gentleman Jim,” dethroned legendary world heavyweight ghostchampion John L. Sullivan (played by Ward Bond) told his conqueror James J. Corbett (portrayed by Errol Flynn) that trying to hit him during their epic 21-round battle of 1892 was “like trying to hit a ghost.”

For his last 13 victims – all by knockout -- current IBF Featherweight Champion Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (21-1-1, 14 KOs) demonstrated what it is like to be “hit by a ghost.”

This Friday, February 29, the 24-year old pride of the Bay Area and “garlic capital” of the world, Gilroy, California, will defend his title against another knockout artist of the same age – Jason “The American Boy” Litzau (23-1, 19 KOs) – as he tries to make the St. Paul, Minnesota native the latest addition to his string of consecutive ghost-written knockouts.

Presented by Goossen Tutor Promotions, the Guerrero-Litzau contest promoted in association with Main Events, is the scheduled 12-round main event of SHOWTIME's “ShoBox: The New Generation” telecast, originating from the Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino in Lemoore, California. In a televised 10-round co-feature bout, Miami, Florida's TJ “Topp Dogg” Wilson (12-1, 8 KOs) will take on Travis “Freight Train” Walker (26-1-1, 20 KOs) of Houston, Texas in a 10-round heavyweight rematch of their highly-controversial bout last October when Wilson was credited with a 15-second, first-round knockout over the previously undefeated Walker.

“I've always had power” insists the highly talented and devoutly religious Guerrero, whose string of knockout victories – interrupted only by a March, 2004 first round technical draw with Julian Rodriguez and an eventually avenged split-decision loss of his NABF featherweight title to Gamaliel Diaz in December, 2005 – began more than five years ago after recording just one knockout in the first eight fights of his career. “I believe my speed has a lot to do with my KOs. Also, putting Jesus Christ first in my life has a lot to do with my success.”

Eager and determined to get home as soon as possible to attend to his ill wife, Casey, Guerrero made shambles of an upset prediction by his opponent's promoter via a sensational 56-second, one-punch knockout of Martin Honorio on SHOWTIME back in November. On February 29 “The Ghost” will be facing one of the top young prospects in the featherweight division in Litzau, as Guerrero and his promotional and management team continue their long-standing and successful relationship to catapult Guerrero to elite status among boxers in the 126 and 130-pound weight classes.

“We want to fight the best in the featherweight and super featherweight division, including all the champions,” acknowledged Shelly Finkel who, along with Bob Santos, is co-manager of Guerrero.

“I want to get in the ring with (WBC super featherweight champ Juan Manuel) Marquez, (Manny) Pacquiao or the winner of (Israel) Vasquez-(Rafael) Marquez or any of the other champions. I've had three title fights and won them all by knockout. I'm a two-time world champion that went overseas to reclaim a world championship. With that being said, a win over Litzau and I’m ready for the biggest fights out there,” stated Guerrero.

And with the guidance and dedication of his managers and promoter Dan Goossen, a win over Litzau is expected to catapult Guerrero alongside the other big name champions.

“Robert Guerrero is on the verge of being synonymous with the other stars of the lighter weight divisions,” Goossen opined. “He brings a fearless attitude into the ring which results in an action fighter who has the crowd on its feet with his knockout prowess.”

In closing Goossen added, “These are the type of action packed fights that have fans in a frenzy. My advice to the ones fortunate enough to grab a ticket this week at Tachi and the viewers watching on SHOWTIME at home, enjoy every last second of what I guarantee to be a great and exciting battle between two warriors. It’s a can’t miss!”
