PAVEL MIRANDA GETS MAIN EVENT SPOT. HEAVYWEIGHT BOUT ADDED

ORANGE, CA - Doctors orders will prevent rising lightweight star Josesito Lopez from making his 2008 debut fight due to a sprain injury to his right hand. Lopez was scheduled to fight next Friday, February 22, at the Doubletree Hotel, Ontario.

[More:]

The injury occurred during a sparring session and it will unfortunately set back Lopez for a few months.

Pavel Miranda (16-0-1, 10 KOs) will now step up as the main event and square off against Panama’s William Gonzalez (21-3-1, 6 KOs). The bout will feature Miranda defending his WBC Youth Interim Junior Welterweight championship in an eight round battle.

"I accept any challenge that comes, I fight for a living and I want to keep my record intact,” said the 20-year-old Tijuana-based Miranda. “It’s a blessing in disguise to move up to the main event and be able to show the American fans what I am capable off.” This will be Miranda’s first fight in US soil.

The undercard guarantees action-packed bouts as Jonathan Velardez (5-0, 4 KOs) will face Los Angeles’ Daniel Quevedo (7-6, 6 KOs) in a six-round flyweight bout, welterweights Mauricio Herrera (2-0, 1 KO) of Miraloma and Ramon Torres (2-0) of Riverside clash in a four round welterweight contest, and Rafael Lopez, Josesito Lopez’ younger brother, (3-0, 3 KOs) competes in a junior middleweight four round contest against Fabian Zuniga who will be making his pro-debut.

Also added to the event will be a heavyweight rematch between Bowie Tapou (12-0, 10KOs) of Nuku'Alofa, Tonga, versus warrior John Clark (12-11-1, 7KOs) of Los Angeles. Tapou, who defeated Clark last September by TKO, will face one another in a rematch that many saw as an ankle injury sustained by Clark during the fourth round of their fight rather than the final result.

Path to Glory, a five-bout card of explosive professional boxing, is presented by Thompson Boxing Promotions at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, California. For tickets, priced at $75, $45, and $30, please call 714-935-0900.

Bouts subject to change. Doors open at 6:30pm, and the first bell rings at 7:45pm. The Doubletree Hotel is located at 222 North Vineyard Avenue in Ontario
