The trainer of Crabtree then jumped in the ring and had a few heated words for Neumann. Members from both camps tried to calm the situation before a near riot erupted in the ring before cooler heads prevailed.

Klitschko Decisions Chisora but “Del Boy” Pleasantly Surprises with Warrior’s Heart and Granite Chin
By Les Dowgier

Prior to today’s heavyweight title clash, Dereck Chisora predicted that he would knockout Vitali Klitschko in the 8th round, as that was his lucky number. Vitali countered this prediction by stating that Chisora wouldn’t survive until the 8th round. Neither prediction came true as the two fighters fought a surprisingly competitive and entertaining fight which ended in a unanimous decision victory for the reigning WBC Heavyweight Champion.
From the first round Chisora demonstrated that he had no fear of Vitali, constantly pressing forward and dictating the action, forcing the champion to constantly back up. Vitali kept moving his feet, trying to keep the fight at a distance and landing his shots. This pattern would continue for the full 12 rounds. Though Vitali was landing more and was landing the bigger and cleaner shots, Chisora amazingly kept coming forward, taking everything Vitali was throwing at him.
"Cornflake" LaManna wins by TKO

Photo: Maria Renee Photography/BrickcityboxingFriday Feb 17, 2012, Nutley, N.J. (new town # 363) High School. Pro- Gabe LaConte (First Round). Show # 6 of year – 3,326 lifetime. In attendance: Harold Lederman, Al Cole, Kendall Holt and Austin Trout. First card in Nutley in 30 years – Jowett-Boy was there; not me). A few locals from that card were introduced. Free food for VIP’s (that was us) but we were full.(see below).
Rode up with Jowett-Boy and “The King” Abrams. Sorry, no time for a pre-meal at a classic diner because Abrams had 2 b there early for PR work and GoFightLive setup., but we did do a meal at local Italian eatery.
Running time – 7:39 to 10:15. 8 bouts. Judges – Lawrence Layton, Julie Lederman and John McKaie. Refs – Sparkle Lee and Randy Neumann. TK – Earl Curry. MM – Renee Aiken.
Frail looking Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna, 151 ¾, Millville, NJ (originally from Nutley) vs Daniel Crabtree, 148 ¾. Hilliard, Ohio. Two white boys. Set for six. TL takes on his toughest test and looks good (now 7-0 (5), winning via TKO at 2:30 of the third. No knockdowns, but a big left hook has DC in trouble and when pinned against ropes, getting hit. Maybe a slight quick hook by Neumann. A brawl nearly breaks out after when DC cornerman chews out ref. TL corner comes over to him and a confrontation takes place. Why did they have to come over in the first place? The guy was hot, let him chill, don’t get in his face.

Chisora Slaps Klitschko at Weigh-in; What was he thinking?
By Les Dowgier
At today’s weigh-in for tomorrow’s heavyweight title fight in Munich, challenger Dereck Chisora, a Union Jack bandana covering the lower part of his face, slapped the reigning champ Vitali Klitschko across the face as the two fighters were staring down. A bit of chaos immediately followed as the two fighters were separated, with a visibly angered Klitschko yelling, "You are f**d now, Chisora, you are now really f**d!"
In the ensuing aftermath, WBC President Jose Sulaiman fined Chisora $50,000, calling the actions an, “absolute disgrace” and, “totally unacceptable.”* Chisora’s own trainer, Don Charles, dubbed the actions, “utterly unacceptable,” while David Haye’s trainer, Adam Booth stated that this was, “professional suicide.”
But the question remains, what was he thinking? Or was he thinking at all?

Arreola, Williams, Cloud, Klitschko all in action this Saturday night
By Les Dowgier
This weekend is a great one for boxing fans, as Chris Arreola, Paul Williams, Tavoris Cloud & Vitali Klitschko are all in action, with the first three all fighting on the same card.
The elder Klitschko, 43-2, 40 KOs, will be back in the ring this Saturday at the Olympiahalle in Munich, Germany after defeating a very game but overmatched Tomasz Adamek via 10th round TKO in his last fight in September of last year. Vitali’s opponent will be the unheralded and, according to many, undeserving Dereck “Del Boy” Chisora, 15-2, 9 KOs. Though Chisora is coming off of a very impressive showing against the highly regarded prospect Robert Helenius, with some boxing pundits claiming that Chisora was robbed by the decision, it is hard to imagine this fight ending in any way other than an easy victory for the Ukrainian champ. Despite looking good against Helenius, Del Boy has looked subpar in many of his previous fights, including his loss against Tyson Fury in the summer of 2011, not exactly a top class opponent. The bottom line is that this is a fighter with less than 20 professional fights under his belt (and an amateur career consisting of approximately the same amount of fights) squaring off against a man who, along with his brother, has ruled the heavyweight division for the better part of a decade. Is Vitali getting up in age and is he becoming prime for a fall? Sure. Do upsets happen in this sport? Of course. But I don’t see either of those things happening this weekend in Germany. Looking good against Helenius is one thing but fighting one of the Klitchkos certainly another. Look for another easy victory for Dr. Ironfist.

King Blues Club in New York City, with an exciting eight-bout card, headlined by an intriguing 10-round welterweight matchup between undefeated up-and-coming prospect Alex Perez (15-0, 9KO's) taking on his toughest opponent to date in longtime contender Francisco "El Gato" Figueroa (20-3-1, 13KO's).
Tickets are priced at $100, $75, and $55 (general admission), and are available by calling the DiBella Entertainment office at (212) 947-2577. Doors open at 6:30PM with the first bout scheduled for 7:30PM.
DBE kicked off the 2012 season of "Broadway Boxing" before a sold-out crowd that on January 21 with a thrilling night of action-packed fights that had a little bit of everything, including knockouts, wars, and upsets. Now DBE looks to keep the momentum rolling in its ninth consecutive season of the popular boxing series by putting on what promises to be another exciting event headlined by the explosive crossroads matchup between Perez and Figueroa.
Perez last saw action as the opening bout of the January 21 card, scoring a vicious second-round TKO over Josh Sosa (10-1). Prior to that victory, Perez had been out of action for over seven months recovering from a hand injury. With the hand now completely healed, Perez will look to begin his climb up the ranks of the welterweight division, but he must first take care of business against the extremely dangerous Figueroa.
The Bronx-native Figueroa, a former New York State and NABF light welterweight champion, has been a staple of the New York boxing scene since his amateur days. Figueroa will be returning to the ring for the first time since November 2009, as he embarks on another run toward a world championship.

DIBELLA SOUNDS OFF ON CHAVEZ SAYS FIGHT SERGIO NEXT OR VACATE TITLE!
New York, NY (Feb. 6, 2012) - Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. defended his version of the WBC Middleweight Championship this past Saturday, February 4, and as long as Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez follows suit in his upcoming matchup against Matthew Macklin on March 17, promoter Lou DiBella expects the two to meet to determine who is the full and real WBC Middleweight Champion.
"As long as Sergio takes care business on March 17, Chavez must fight him next. Either fight him or he has to vacate his title. It's plain and simple," said DiBella. "We are tired of waiting for Chavez to step up to the plate. He needs to stop hiding behind his people and be a real champion. He says that he wants the fight, so then prove it. The WBC ruled in our favor at their convention in December, and the two were both permitted to have voluntary defenses. We don't want to look past Sergio's fight on March 17 because he is going to have his hands full with Macklin. If Sergio wins though, I expect negotiations to begin immediately for Sergio against Julio. Immediately!"

Delvin Rodriguez-Pawel Wolak I Boxing Writers 2011 Fight of the Year
BRONX, NY (January 31, 2012) - Honors keep rolling in for Star Boxing's world ranked Junior Middleweight Delvin Rodriguez, the latest being yesterday's announcement by the Boxing Writers Association of America ("BWAA") that last July 17th Star Boxing-promoted event between Rodriguez and Pawel Wolak, aired live on ESPN Friday Night Fights, had been selected as the BWAA Fight of the Year.
Their action-packed fight at the historic Roseland Ballroom in Manhattan ended in a majority draw. Rodriguez won the rematch on December 3rd, 2012, by way of a dominating and impressive 10-round unanimous decision (100-90, 98-92 and 98-91) at the fabled Madison Square Garden.
In addition to the BWAA, Rodriguez-Wolak 1 was also selected as Fight of the Year by numerous publications and websites including Sports Illustrated and Delvin was named Connecticut Fighter of the Year by the Connecticut Boxing Hall of Fame.
Top Middleweight Prospect Richard Pierson Ready For Battle February 17
Paterson native and up-and-coming middleweight Richard Pierson will return to action Friday, February 17, 2012 as Gabe LaConte’s First Round Promotions presents a night of boxing at the Nutley High School in Nutley, New Jersey.Following nearly a two-year layoff from the squared circle, Pierson (9-2, 6 KO) put on an impressive show in his comeback fight in June of 2010, stopping Reynaldo Rodriguez at 2:32 of the first round, handing the undefeated fighter his first loss. But the young fighter has had problems with fights falling through and getting cancelled last minute.
Having fights fall through has been somewhat of a regular thing for Pierson, through no fault of his own. Fighters and promoters have been avoiding the devastating puncher because in four fights he was supposed to be the “B” fighter, and he came in and knocked out the “A” fighter.
RIP Angelo Dundee

Statement on the passing of Angelo Dundee
We’ve lost a great human being whose contributions reached far beyond the world of boxing. I had the privilege and honor to have Angelo working in my corner for many of my fights over the past six years. To me he was a friend, confidant and a great boxing mind.
I’m glad that I was able to talk with him on a regular basis and we recently discussed my upcoming fight. His advice was always inspiring and encouraging to me. He always seemed to be correct in his analysis.
I will miss him dearly but he will always be in my heart and in my thoughts. My prayers are with him and his family. May God bless him and bring him peace.
