Divisional Playoff Round!
Well 3 for 4 and it took a fluke OT play for my GB pick to be wrong.
We saw the fall of an evil empire in New England, we saw the best performance by a rookie QB in NFL playoff history with Marky Mark Sanchez. We saw a monkey being removed off of a franchise’s back in Dallas and we saw a pin ball game in the desert! You just have to love the playoffs!
I am sure Belichick almost deep down likes that he actually has a challenge ahead of him to get the Pats back prominence, and is actually under scrutiny for a change. I think they may have to take a step back for a year and build this team back up, but you can never count that coach and that QB out. Keep in mind Brady was just back after missing last year with the knee injury, these injuries generally take until the 2nd year to feel right.
The Ravens look like a scary mirror image of the old Ravens in New England. What if I told you they would go to New England and Flacco would only complete 4 passes? What would you predict Pats 44- Ravens 3. How about 33-14 ravens! Bizarre game. But as I said last week, they would go to New England Beat Brady and Moss up, and that is exactly what they did. I said watch 2nd year sensation Ray Rice, all he did was rush for 159 yards and 2 TD’s on 22 carries and a little 83 yarder to open the game and send a message that it would be a long day for the Pats! How about the job John Harbaugh is doing? He seems to really have them playing like they did 6-7 years ago.
How bout them J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets! That was a Rex Ryan Brian Schottenhiemer masterpiece in Cincinnati! Although the stat sheet says the Jets had only 3 sacks, believe me they gave Palmer a beating and fits. Holding him to 50% completions and making Ocho a non factor for the second week in a row. NFL let me introduce Mr. Revis the best shut down corner in the business. How about Shonn Greene (and yes that is how he spells Shawn)? 135 yards and a TD for a rookie RB. How exciting is it for a Jets fan to see that from both their rookie RB and rookie QB? Now if Mr. Edwards decided to contribute to the offense and CATCH some passes they would really be scary!

Crazy week 16!
Ok, so the NFC players are in place even if the seeds aren’t quite set. The saints are looking like the 07 Cowboys just a little bit. They hit their peak against New England on national TV, just as the Cowboys did against Green bay in 07. And just like that Dallas team they have yet to look like that team again. Minnesota and their QB Terrell Owens, oops I mean Brett Favre are having issues coddling the 40 year old player with the biggest ego in all of sports. Green Bay looks like a top team offensively but that D let Big Ben throw for half a thousand 2 weeks ago without an int. Not good. Philly and Dallas are similar in that they can look unbeatable one week and look VERY beatable the following week. As much as I am an NFC guy, it is hard for me to imagine this years champs coming out of this conference.

Week 15...things are heating up!
WHO DAT? Ok, enough of that. But I am still jacked over the big win in the Big Easy. This is the type of win that can put a mentally shaky team like Dallas over the top. We will see. Just part of the rollercoaster ride that is Dallas fandom..
How about the Mulligan Stew that is the AFC playoff race?!?! With 2 weeks to go, not 7, 8 or 9 teams in the hunt but how about 12!!! That is right there are 12 teams that are VERY much in the hunt with 2 to go.
1 Indy has the 1 seed locked up at 14-0 (home NYJ and at Bills)
2 S.D Is pretty much solid at the #2 11-3 (at Tenn and skins at home)
3 New England sits at the 3 at 9-5 and can win the AFC East next week at home against the Jags (Jags at home and at Houston)
4 The Bengals sit currently but not comfortably at the 4 seed at 9-5 but the Ravens are right on their heels at 8-6 (KC at home and at Jets)
1st Wild Card spot Ravens at 8-6 (at Pitt at Oak)
2nd Wild Card spot Denver 8-6 (at Philly and home KC)

Week 14 thoughts...
The AFC Playoff Race.
With every team aside from the colts seemingly at 7-6, should make for a great stretch run! With Cincy losing you have to feel pretty solid with the 10-3 Chargers in the 2 seed. The Bengals with a 2 game lead and 3 to play are probably pretty safe as the 3 seed and the AFC North winner. The AFC East now, that is gonna be fun. The Fins and Jets at 7-6 are not only in the wild card hunt but they are very much still in the Division hunt only 1 game behind the Pats who are a shell of teams past. Here is what remains for these teams
Pats @ Buffalo, sounds easy , but it took a flurry of a finish to comeback and beat Buffalo early in the year in New England, Jacksonville at home, a team with plenty to play for and clinging to the last wild card spot and finally @ Houston a team that will play well because they always do once they are mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.

Being a Dallas fan= painful
What a pain in the neck team to root for! A last drive TD to beat a washed out Redskins team…..pathetic! Is this the same team that demolished the Falcons and went into Philly and stole one on the road? Who do you blame for such a lackluster performance? The head coach? Sounds right, but his defense saved the day and was very solid all day and really has been since allowing the late game tying TD to Kansas City with 24 seconds left. Jason Garett? I am not loving the play calling. He heard all week that he did not run enough against the Packers, so he comes out in this game and runs every play to start the game. This was successful until Marion Barber fumbled it away. But the point is, can you not make a game plan that keeps a defense off balance? Not all runs after a week that you called all passes??

18 Wins and 1 Giant Loss!!!
By: Christopher Roche
Whether it is Arturo Gatti, Bobby Czyz or the 2007 Giants, the state of New Jersey is used to being the underdog.
Well, this year we pulled off the impossible. The New York Football Giants (who play in NJ) upset the New England Patriots by a final score of 17-14 in Super Bowl 42.
Bill Belichick (Defensive Coordinator) and Tom Coughlin (Wide-Receivers) were both coaches on the 1990-91 Super Bowl winning Giants, but when Bill Parcells resigned so late in the year, it was too late for the Giants to retain one of those greats as head coach. Belichick went to the Browns, and Coughlin went to Boston College. The Giants were set back at least five years because of the Tuna's actions.
Fortunately, Coughlin eventually came back.

Despite the fact that The New Jersey Ironmen (10-6) were upset by La Raza de Monterrey, and lost 17-12 loss (6-10), the fans at the Prudential Arena were treated to an exciting game and definately got their money's worth. The Brick City fans welcomed special guest and honorary captain IBF Junior Welterweight Champion, Paulie "The Magic Man" Malignaggi to Newark.

Malignaggi gladly made the trip over to the Brick City with promoter Lou DiBella and his team from Brooklyn to serve as honary captain and to kick out the ceremonial first kick to Ironmen goalkeeper, another local guy who is almost legendary, Kearny New Jersey's Tony Meola. Malignaggi, a huge soccer enthusiast, recently spent a week in Italy training with A.C. Milan in preparation for his most recent title defense in which he won an exciting unanimous decision over Herman Ngoudjo.

Giants Have a Super Date!
By: Christopher Roche
The New York Football Giants have conquered the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field. The Giants defeated the Green Bay Packers for their tenth straight road win, and they will meet the New England Patriots for the Super Bowl Title in Glendale, Arizona.
The Giants pulled out the win in overtime 23-20, off of a Lawrence Tynes 47 yard field goal. Eli Manning played great tonight, in the subzero temperatures, as he went 21-40 for 254 yards. He also suffered several drops, as the football was rock hard.

In Defense of the Bowl System, Plus One
By: Christopher Roche
The final NFL week in New York brought two NFL storylines: 1) “Giants’ Fans are Selling Their Tickets for the Regular Season Finale” and 2) “Should the Giants rest their starters because they cannot improve their playoff position?” Despite the Giants playing the undefeated Patriots, the game lacks any urgency beyond the symbolic.
Those two storylines exemplify a huge credibility problem for the League’s regular season, and most of this week’s games are completely meaningless. Unless your rooting interest lies in New Orleans, Cleveland, Tennessee or Washington D.C., week 16 feels like the last week of the preseason.
College Football’s Bowl Subdivision (Division 1) is the only major sport where every single contest has potential life or death meaning, and regular season victories are the gold standard. While this season has been wild, the importance of maintaining the Bowl system is evident, because under the current system, every game is must win, and losing one or two games clouds a team’s destiny and could prove fatal to title hopes.
